The Power of Positive Sibling Relationships

About 80% of children in developed countries grow up with at least one sibling. Over a lifetime, sibling relationships tend to be some of our longest family relationships--often longer than a parent-child or spouse relationship. 

In recent years, researchers have been documenting how positive sibling relationships are correlated with very positive individual social outcomes in areas such as school and developing relationships with peers. 

Whether as adults or in raising our own children, sibling relationships provide us with prime opportunities to discover the thoughts, feelings, and ambitions of other people.
